Our goal
This site is for renters, landlords and neighbors, and that includes people with disabilities. We are building it toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, which includes the 2.1 Level AA standard commonly used as the benchmark. We are aiming for that standard. We are not claiming we have fully met it.
What we have done
- Clear page structure with headings, landmarks and a “Skip to content” link.
- Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
- Photos have text descriptions, and decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers.
- Text and controls were checked for color contrast, and the layout reflows without sideways scrolling down to a 320 pixel width.
- Text can be enlarged in your browser, and no audio or video plays on its own. Nothing flashes.
- Animation is turned off automatically if your device asks for reduced motion.
- Links describe where they go, and form fields have labels.
- If a survey form needs a correction, it comes back with everything you entered still in place, says what to fix, and links to the field.
- The savings calculator on the home page tells you in words when a number you typed cannot be used, and shows no estimate until it is fixed.
Display options built in
Choose “Display options” at the bottom left of any page to make the text larger, switch to a high-contrast view, stop animation, or use a plain, spaced-out font. Your choices are saved on your device only. Your browser and operating system settings also work here.
What we have not done yet
We checked these pages with automated and scripted tests and reviewed the code, but we have not yet had an independent audit or testing with screen readers and other assistive technology, and we cannot promise there are no problems. Some content comes from other websites, such as linked news articles, reports and PDFs, and we do not control how accessible those are. Buttons that invite you to take part open a survey page or an audience page on this site. Only links that show an email address open your email program.

We will try to answer within a few business days and fix what we can. If you need the information in another form, such as plain text or large print, ask and we will provide it.
